Review of our English club evening on 04.02.2026 | Motto: „Time“ ⏱️
On 04.02.2026, the Kölner Sprechbar once again showed how much personal growth can fit into 90 minutes: 7 members and 3 guests (including a guest from Cologne Toastmasters and a first-time guest who jumped right in) practised together to speak freely, speak better and present confidently in front of an audience. 🎤✨ For everyone who couldn’t make it due to time or circumstances: this was an evening where every minute truly counted.
As Toastmaster of the evening, Sarah B. guided us through the programme and made sure the timing and transitions stayed smooth. ⏳ Christian K. not only kept the pace as Timer but later also gave an extra energy boost as Quizmaster. 🧠🎉 The Word of the Day came from Sascha, and Oli, as a guest, contributed a helpful tip – exactly this mix of structure and spontaneous input is what makes Toastmasters so valuable when it comes to communication and speaking skills. ✅
The prepared speeches were all about real practice: Lucas Steffens (guest) connected communication skills with the „Four Core Personality Colors“ and showed how we can understand each other better and respond more deliberately in conversations – a strong foundation for leadership, career and everyday presentations. 🎨💬 Kristof spoke about health and motivation and shared down-to-earth approaches you can put into practice straight away. 💪
The Table Topics were a highlight too: Meral hosted them with a „Grab Bag“ full of ideas – exactly the training that helps to reduce stage fright and speaking anxiety step by step and to stay clear in spontaneous situations. 🧩🚀 The evaluations by Sascha and me, as well as Melanie’s Table Topics evaluation, were encouraging and concrete – precisely the feedback that makes the difference when learning to speak. 🙏
Thanks to everyone who took on roles, welcomed guests and made this evening possible. Anyone who wants to train rhetoric in Cologne, practise public speaking and build more self-confidence is in exactly the right place at our speaking club. 😊
